NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA) is planning to establish a regional headquarters in Taiwan, according to a report by the Commercial Times on Monday, which cited a government official familiar with the details.
The company is reportedly focusing on Taipei as the site for its new headquarters and is in search of approximately three hectares of land for the development. The local city government is actively supporting Nvidia in its efforts, the report added.
Taiwan plays a crucial role in Nvidia’s supply chain, as the company relies heavily on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE: TSM) for the production of its advanced artificial intelligence chips. Nvidia also maintains partnerships with major Taiwanese firms like Foxconn, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (TW: 2317).
Earlier this year, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced plans to expand the company’s footprint in Taiwan, including the construction of a research and development facility and the recruitment of over 1,000 employees in the coming years.
